With lawns and hedges beautifully maintained and a main building designed to look like the keep of a British castle, All Saints winery in Wagunyah (just north of Rutherglen and very well sign-posted) is a beautiful experience if the weather plays its part.
The wine: Excellent range, including an exceptional array of fortified wines to suit all price points. Overall, the wines (especially table wines and very top-end fortified wines) are more expensive than other cellar doors in the region but there is value to be found as some of the offerings are truly amazing. The winery does produce cheaper labels as well – keep an eye out for the St Leonards Shiraz…
The dining: The Terrace restaurant at All Saints is the very definition of fine dining. Like many places at the moment, space is a bit more limited, so book a week before you go (more for weekend dinners). This is one of our top three dining experiences in the Rutherglen region for food, quality wine list and professional wait-staff.
If you want to extend your stay: There is a duck pond on the estate, behind the restaurant. Bring bread and the ducks become very friendly…
